(Notice they did not have a son named Roger.)
Roger Greswold was born about 1540 in Rowington, Warwickshire, England. He was the son of John Greswold, known as John the Elder. The family resided at the South Rookery farm from 1548. Roger was buried 15 Mar 1617/1618 in Ederstone, England.
NOTE: This information is from the research conducted by the Griswold Family Association. Their findings have been published in the book "The Griswold Family: 12 Generations in England". Page 41 explains that several printings of this booklet left out a generation here, which has been restored in the 1999 printing, so please check this edition.
NOT ELIZABETH BUCK:
Regarding assertions that Roger Griswold married Elizabeth Buck—the editions printed before 1999 listed Roger as the son of John who married Isabell Saunders. The 1999 edition clarifies that this John is Roger's brother. The suggestion that his wife was Elizabeth Buck came from speculation that she may have later married John Benford. However, since Roger and John were actually brothers this could not be correct. Roger's wife remains unknown—not Elizabeth Buck.
