Marvin Conley Barlow, 90, of Midland and formerly of Abilene, passed away Friday, November 25, 2016 at a Midland assistant living center with loving family at his side.

Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 1, 2016 at Broadview Baptist Church, 2500 South 27th Street in Abilene, with Dr. Randall Carter and Reverend Ryan Carter officiating. Burial will follow at Potosi Cemetery with U.S. Navy military honors, directed by Abilene Funeral Home.

Mr. Barlow was born June 08, 1926, in Abilene to Lewis Hadley and Laura Nell Cheshire Barlow.

He was one of the few U.S. Navy World War II Veterans that are left, serving as a Seaman First Class. Marvin earned two stars for serving in the Asiatic-Pacific Area and one star for Philippine Liberation, served in American Area receiving the World War Victory Medal.

Marvin was a humble and generous christian man who knew no strangers.

He has rejoined the love of his life for 65 years Dorothy Barlow, being apart for five years.

Marvin worked for El Paso Natural Gas Plant in Midland for 32 years.

He enjoyed gardening, fishing, helping neighbors, watching the Dallas Cowboys and spending time cooking for his grandchildren and family.

Left to cherish his memories include one son, Russell W. Barlow of El Paso; two daughters, Susan Thompson (Lee) of Midland and Judy Easley (Tom) of Magnolia, Texas; eight grandchildren, Stephen Barlow of Abilene, Jeremy Barlow (Bonnie) of Tuscola, Chris Thompson (Christin) of Midland, Jennifer Goldsmith (Joey) of Greenville, SC, Christine Shepherd (Jonathan) of Indianapolis, Indiana, Randall Carter (Rebecca) of Hillsborough, NC, Ryan Carter (Amber) of Wichita, Kansas and kelly Harkins (Michael) of Cypress, Texas; and 20 great grandchildren.

Mr. Barlow was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Laura Barlow; his wife, Dorothy Barlow; his four siblings, "Red" Barlow, Fawn Miller, Dixie Muir and Bobbie Rogers.

The family will receive friends at a visitation from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Abilene Funeral Home Chapel of Hope, 3349 North 12th Street.
