James Richard Bookout, 78, of Idaho Falls, passed away Nov. 24, 2016, at his home. Hospice of Eastern Idaho assisted his family with his care.
Jim was born at home April 1, 1938, in Hugo, Okla., the son of Thelma Bookout and Margaret Morris Bookout. He grew up and attended schools in Hugo.
On July 6, 1979, he married Tanna Moss Harris in Elko, Nev. Their marriage was solemnized in the Rexburg LDS Temple on June 13, 2015, after Jim was baptized into the church on March 22, 2014.
Jim lived in Rigby prior to living in Idaho Falls, where he worked for Miskin Scraper Works for 18 years and then for the city of Idaho Falls for 20 years.
He enjoyed fishing, camping, boating, hunting and family get-togethers.
He is survived by the following: wife, Tanna Bookout of Idaho Falls; daughters, Cindy (Jesse) Silva of Seattle and Tausha (Chris) Cook of Idaho Falls; sisters, Doris (Gayle) Kizer of Hugo and Shirley (Ernie) Barnes of Paris, Texas; brothers, Steve (Gail) Bookout of Hugo, Bob (Cynthia) Bookout of Descanso, Calif., and Johnny Bookout of Taft, Calif.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Charles Bookout; and sisters, Clara Mae Bookout, Evelyn Dunn and Joyce Killebrew.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Dunbar LDS Building, 1200 Dunbar St., in Idaho Falls, with Bishop Shawn Orgill officiating. Burial will be in Ririe-Shelton Cemetery at a later date.
