Richard Armstrong 60 of Cross Lanes passed away December 25, 2015 at Hubbard Hospice House West.
Preceding him in death was his father, Rev. Norman Armstrong and his mother, Florence Waterman Armstrong.
Survivors include his brother, Mark Armstrong of Carlinville, Illinois; nephews Greg McDonald, Jeff and Dan Armstrong. Life family was Gene, Darla, Barbara and Monique Brooks and Nate Skaggs, who knew him as pawpaw. Like a son was A.D. Brooks.
Rick grew up in the American Baptist Church, where he first sang in the choir at his father's churches in Wyoming, Ohio and Springfield, Ohio. He was baptized in Granville, Ohio and rediscovered his spiritual family among the congregation of Charleston Baptist Temple. There he served on several boards, Vacation Bible School and loved to sing bass in the choir. He was co-founder of Dr. J and the Ultrasounds choir (a health care related singing group) with his dear friend Dr. Janet Jenkins.
Rick moved to West Virginia in 1983. He was born in Brooklyn NY. He graduated from Springfield North High School in Ohio in 1973 and Heidelberg College in 1977 with a BA in English, Theater and Communications. He earned a MC in Occupational Therapy from The Medical College in VA in 1983. He worked as an OT at CAMC for more than 30 years.
Memorial Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday January 2, 2016 at the Charleston Baptist Temple, Charleston.
