M.A. Grace
Hello, I believe I can give some information on this person. I believe it is Minard A Grace who was born in Feb 1866 in Georgia. The 1870 federal census shows him in the home of his parents Nathaniel J and Mary J Johnson Grace in Atlanta, Fulton, Georgia. The 1880 census shows he lived in St. Clair, Alabama in the home of his parents. Emma Beasley was born in 1870 in Alabama. She married Minard (Minyard) Grace in St. Clair, Alabama on 11 Dec 1887. Emma died in 1893. They had two children: Alice and Dexter Daniel Grace.
The 1900 federal census in Beech, MIller County, Arkansas shows Minard widowed again with the children from both marriages plus four step daughters. Minard married Fannie Mitchell in Sebastian County, Arkansas on 14 July 1894. She died October 1899. Fannie Pack had been married to Jim Mitchell a man who was at least part Cherokee. No marriage date was found but likely occured about 1882 in Indian Territory. Their daughter Luella Mitchell and her sisters are listed as Cherokee by blood. They are the four daughters of Jim Mitchell and Fannie Pack. The Fold 3 website has this information under the Native American portion. Minard and Fannie had three children: MInnie, Willie and Rosetta. The four daughters of Fannie and Jim Mitchell are Luella, Joanna, Maggie and Leila Mitchell.
The 1910 federal census finds his son Willie A Grace, age 14 in the home of a cousin John W Brown in Panola, Mississippi. Minnie Grace, age 13 was living in a boarding house in Pontotoc, Mississippi. I could not fine Rosetta in this census. It is possible she was adopted and would likely have a different surname. The Mitchell step-daughters were all married before 1910. I did not find Alice or Dexter Daniel Grace in the 1910 census record. This seems to fit with the timing of the death of M. A. Grace in 1907 in Sebastion County, Mississippi.
Also, there are other families with the surname Grace buried in this cemetery. I could find no relationship with Minard but feel there likely is a connection somehow.
