Obituary

Betty Rae Miller Boulware was married to the late Dr. Thomas M. Boulware Jr. of Vestavia Hills, Al. Betty spent her childhood in Sylacauga, and Pensacola. She attended Vanderbilt University after high school. She graduated as a Registered Nurse from the Carraway Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in March of 1951 where she worked until stepping away to raise her children. She was an avid amateur Golfer, winning multiple amateur Golf Tournaments in the Birmingham Area, as well as tournaments in surrounding states. She loved the outdoors, mainly fishing and boating, and also caring for her dogs and cats. She was devoted to her two grand-daughters, often found in the kitchen cooking with them, or working on craft/sewing projects together-the epitome of their "Gammy". She was embraced with Love from the First Church of the Nazarene in Vestavia Hills after losing her daughter, Molly, in 1981, and 15 years later moved her membership to Christ Church United Methodist in Shelby County to be closer to her family members attending there. Christ Church showed the same love for Betty, where she made numerous new friendships..devoted friends who would often visit her after she moved into an assisted living facility. Her spiritual gift appeared to be "Service to Others" as she was quick to help out in any way she could to anyone in need.
