Kenneth S. Lancaster
Kenneth S. Lancaster, 87, of West Donegal Township, passed away at home on Thursday, February 7, 2013 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on May 18, 1925 in Newville, West Donegal Township, Lancaster County to the late Henry T. and Mary (Shank) Lancaster.
Mr. Lancaster was a proud Veteran of WW II, having served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Laub and the USS J. William Ditter in the Atlantic Theater.
During his working career, he was a truck driver, a mechanic, an office administrator, a supervisor and was retired from MOPAC.
He was a member of St. Lukes Episcopal Church, Mount Joy, and the Elizabethtown American Legion. He loved raising chickens and goats, gardening and watching the deer in his yard. He enjoyed Sunday drives in the country, listening to country music, and watching professional wrestling with his wife.
Surviving are his wife of 68 years, Gloria J. (Steffen) -Lancaster; his son, Henry T. Lancaster of Elizabethtown; his two daughters, Carol A. Dabbs and her husband Thomas R. Sr. of Elizabethtown, Donna L. Kellett of Baltimore, MD; his three grandchildren, Suzanne C. Dabbs-Quaca and her husband Thomas, Thomas R. Dabbs, Jr. and his fiancée Shannon Reed, Katherine A. Ebersole and her companion Danny R. Donegan; his four great grandchildren, Collin R. Shifflett and his fiancée Emily T. Musser, Thomas J. Dabbs, Shawn D. Dabbs, Gabriella M. Dabbs; his great-great grandson, Sawyer J. Shifflett; and his sister, Beatrice Romig of Elizabethtown. He was preceded in death by his four brothers, Frederick Lancaster, Albert Lancaster, Clarence Lancaster, Samuel T. Lancaster; his five sisters, Laura Woolger, Mabel Sweigart, Grace Hackenberger, Bessie Lancaster and Mary E. -Lancaster.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 in the Miller-Sekely Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. of Elizabethtown, with Pastor Eleanor E. Hart officiating. Burial will be in Goods Mennonite Cemetery. Viewings will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday, February 11, 2013 and from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions in Mr. Lancaster's honor may be made to St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 209 South Market Street, Mount Joy, PA 17552.
