Carl Howard Adams, 80, of Hart, passed away Friday, December 2, 2016, at Mercy Health Partners Lakeshore Campus in Shelby. He was born February 5, 1936, in Shelby to Aubrey and Julia (McLouth) Adams. Carl was a graduate with the Class of 1954 from Shelby High School. He married Louise Walsworth on June 23, 1956 at the Hart United Congregational Church; they were married sixty years. Carl served in the United States Army for twenty years from 1954-1974. During this time he served two tours in Vietnam, he was a Green Beret and a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne. He retired as a chief warrant officer.
Following his military retirement, Carl spent his years fruit farming. He loved his family and enjoyed his 60 years of marriage to Louise. His favorite hobbies included hunting, fishing and golfing. He especially loved riding his motorcycle. He also enjoyed giving his grandchildren rides on his four-wheeler around the farm. Carl was very patriotic and proudly flew the American flag at his home. Carl was a member of the Hart VFW Post and also the American Legion Lansing Post. During the winter months Carl and Louise spent their time in Bradenton, FL.
Carl is survived by his wife, Louise (Walsworth) Adams; children, Jim (Cindy) Adams of Hudsonville, Darlene (Dale) Cutter of Grand Rapids, Darrel (Jill) Adams of Shelby, Karen (Ralph) Oomen of Hart; nine grandchildren, Emily (Bruce) Harder, Dylan Adams, Ellie Adams, Jake (Emily) Cutter, Jessie Cutter, Andrea (Sam) Laird, Suncerae Adams, Tara Oomen, Tyler Oomen; three great grandchildren, Jameson Harder, Chase Harder, Phoenix Laird; half-brother, Allen (Dorie) Adams of Belding; and half-sister, Letty Wilson of Barryton. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert Adams and Warren Adams; and sister, Marie Keck. Interment will be in South Hart Cemetery.
