Son of Henry Clay Melton and Rosie Elizabeth Collier. Married Mary Inez Bowers on September 13, 1933 in Kemp Texas. To this union three children were born. Claudie, Margie Nell, and Georgia Lee Melton. In 1958 he became the owner and operater of Melton's Texaco in Kemp. He was a member of the Kemp Church of Christ. He died at his home after a long battle with cancer.
