William Thomas Bilyeu was a son of John Birge Bilyeu and Martha Houston Powers.
On 11 August 1852 he married his 1st cousin, Mary Jane Bilyeu, daughter of Garret Page Bilyeu and Nancy Elizabeth Bryant.
They had at least 4 children:

- Edward Beacher Bilyeu (1859-1944)
- Louis A Bilyeu (b. 1868)
- Lizzie F Bilyeu (b. 1869)
On 17 Nov 1871, he married Mary E. Perkins at Fayette County, Illinois (unknown if that was her maiden name). They had no surviving children.
His Military History:
- His gravestone is a Civil War marker that reads "SERGT. W. P. Bilyeu / CO. C / 26 IL INF". The only W Bilyeu in Company C, 26th Illinois Infantry, was William T. He matches being a sergeant, and he entered the service at Greenville, the same place he was buried. - He Joined on 23 August 1861, at Greenville, Bond County, Illinois, at age 30. He was a married farmer, near Pocahontas, in Bond County. He was a Sargent, but "REDUCED TO RANKS SEP 10, 1862 DISCHARGED AUG 22, 1864 NEAR ATLANTA GA EXPIRATION OF SERVICE."
