He was born ca 1811 and his wife Ellen was born ca 1815 both in NY and they were in the 1850 census with Thomas "Jay" age 11, Rob age 8, Mira or Marion age 6, Burt age 3 all b Michigan and Marian Caten age 15 b NY, James Johnson age 18 b KY and Melvin G Powers age 24 b VT in the household. By the 1860 census, they had "Jay", Robert, Marion (male) and "Burr" with them.
