Marvin A. Cappel, age 82, died Friday, November 5, 2004.

He was the son of Albert and Clara (nee Yunker) Cappel. He spent his boyhood living with his aunt and uncle, Emma and Emil Cappel on a farm in Mokena.

Marvin lived in Mokena until his marriage, September 30, 1944 to Mildred Vogt, whom he married at St. John's Lutheran Church, Country Club Hills.

He and Mildred farmed in Frankfort and the Tinely Park area until they moved to Herscher in the late 1970s.

Marvin was a lifelong farmer who also raised livestock and devoted himself to his family. He was a member of the Kankakee County Farm Bureau and a past member of the Lutheran Laymen's League.

Surviving are his daughter, Diane (Ron) Hattendorf of Green Garden, Monee; his son, Dean (Connie) Cappel of Bourbonais; his brother, Wesley (Toots) Cappel of Mokena; grandchildren Renee Hattendorf, Steve Brammer, Rachel Hattendorf, Jason Cappel, Meg Cappel, Jill Majier, Amber Cappel and Mathew Cappel; great-grandchildren, Joy, Zeke, and Ben Cappel.

He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents; his daughter, Dawn Cappel; his great-granddaughter, Darby Cappel; and one brother, Harold Cappel.

Arrangements entrusted to Schreffler Funeral Home, Kankakee.

Interment: Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Herscher.
