Joel was born in Catahoula to the late Joel Joseph Latiolais, Sr. and Evelyn Usie Latiolais.
He worked as a dredge boat operator until he was 80 years old. Joel enjoyed going to the casino, drink coffee on Sundays and visit with family and friends. Joel liked to watch TV. His favorite shows were "Deal or no Deal" and "the stories." He also enjoyed watching old western movies, and listening to country music. His 80th birthday was celebrated in Las Vegas where he got to see his favorite singer George Straight. Joel will be remembered for his contagious smile and beautiful blue eyes. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving spouse of 60 years, Betty F. Latiolais; daughters, Jessica Seneca, Veronica Wiford and husband John, Francine Dupre and husband Ryan; sons, Craig Latiolais and wife Pauline, and Shane Latiolais and wife Dana; grandchildren, Corey Seneca, Brittany Wiford, Kristen Mouton, and Kaitlyn Dupre; great-grandchildren, Brooke Seneca, Baylon Seneca, Jade Meche, and Blaze Meche; and one great-great grandchild, Zander Litto.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Dennis Seneca; siblings, Yola LeBlanc, Lee Latiolais, Eve Guidry, Alice Latiolais, John Latiolais, Joseph Latiolais, Malvina Blanchard, Antionette Patin, Antoine Latiolais, Angelle Barras, William Latiolais, Wilton Latiolais, and Luda Savoie.
