Mr. Duncan, in partnership with his brother, Lester Duncan, had owned and operated the Beech Coal Company, a strip mining firm from 1932 to 1948. He also had owned a farm near Lyons.
Mr. Duncan was a member of the Church of Christ at Clay City.
He also was a member of the Jasonville Masonic Lodge No. 530 and a member of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Terre Haute.
He was born in Clay County on April 13, 1894, the son of Frank and Sarah Conder Duncan. He had made his home at Clay City for several years, before moving to Jasonville in 1931.
Mr. Duncan is survived by the widow, Mrs. Ruth Duncan; two daughters, Mrs. Hilda Harrison of Lyons and Mrs. Betty Ball of Connersville; the brother, Lester Duncan of Jasonville; one sister, Mrs. Ora Stepler of Clay City and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the McClanahan Funeral Home at 2:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon with Odell Kirby officiating, and burial was made in the Lebanon Cemetery.
