19/08/1918 Handley Page 0/400, serial D4593, of 14 Aircraft Acceptance Park was on a test flight from Castle Bromwich when it lost fabric from a wing and crashed at Maxstoke. This was quoted as the worst accident in the first year of the Royal Air Force and all on board were killed.
