George had lived in Baytown since 1971, was a member of Cedar Bayou Baptist Church, retired from the Air Force with 21 years of service and retired from teaching at LaPorte ISD after 22 years of service. Other memberships include the Air Force Sergeants Association, Texas Retired Teachers Association, AARP and the Leadership Circle of the National Committee to preserve Social Security and Medicare.
Mr. Goodwin was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 64 years, Marjorie Ann Goodwin.
Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Debra Robinson of Lindale, Sheila Moon and Adam Hammers of Baytown, Lou Ellen and Bill Allen of Brownwood; and Cheri and Daniel Rouse, Jr. of Mont Belvieu; sisters-in-law, Doris Sturrock and Doris Billings of Baytown; grandchildren, Heather Mathison, Sara Nicholas, Carrie Miller, Danny Rouse III, Luci Ann Rouse, Rachael Chase, Kristen Horton, Matt Allen, Debbie Robinson, and Frank Robinson; eleven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at Navarre Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 15, 2016 at the Memory Gardens Chapel of Chimes Mausoleum with Dr. E. Richard Steel officiating.
Serving as pallbearers will be Danny Rouse III, Matt Allen, Brian Miller, Duane Mathison, Brent Nicholas, and Michael Chase.
