George Munker was born May 1, 1858 in Bavaria, Germany. He grew to manhood there and in 1885 he came to the United States to work at Anaconda. Three years later, in 1888, he came to Demersville in the Flathead where he was employed as a carpenter. He was married in 1891 to Miss Barbara Hoegner and about that time homesteaded in the Creston district. He continued to farm there until his retirement in 1913 when he moved to Kalispell. His wife passed away here in 1919.
Mr. Munker had been in failing health for some time and passed away at his home on fifth Avenue West Tuesday, June 15, 1943, at the age of 85 years.
He is survived by his three daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Huntsinger of Astoria, Oregon, Mrs. Catherine Parnall of New Westminster, B.C., Canada, and Miss Georgia Munker of Kalispell. Also there are eight grandchildren surviving and one sister, Mrs. Kate Zimmerman of Escondido, California.
