Mrs. Loris Elizabeth (Betty) Shaffer, 74, of New Market, Virginia, passed away early Monday morning, December 12, 2016 at the University of Virginia Medical Center at Charlottesville.
She was born October 6, 1942 in Lewistown, Montana and was a daughter of the late Ernest Jewel and Loris Jane Carter Harper.
Mrs. Shaffer was a former secretary/bookkeeper for Prince George's County, Maryland school systems.
She is survived by her husband, Glenn Shaffer; son, Jeffery Shaffer and his wife, Debby, and their children, Emma and Jackson; daughter, Loris Shaffer and children, Bradford McCurdy and Caroline McCurdy; son-in-law, Robert McCurdy; daughter, Dana Taylor and her husband, Brian Taylor; sister, LaDonna Harper Snook and her husband, Lonnie Snook; and two sisters-in-laws, Charlotte Shaffer and Carla Harper.
Betty was predeceased by her parents and three older brothers, Ernest Harper, Jr., Gilbert Harper and LaVern Harper.
She was a member of the Grace Baptist Church in Woodstock, where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 17, 2016. Pastor Ken Sparks will officiate.
Interment will follow at Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery in New Market.
Serving as pallbearers will be Glenn Shaffer, Jeffrey Shaffer, Jackson Shaffer, Bradford McCurdy, Robert McCurdy and Brian Taylor.
