Thomas Byl passed away peacefully early December 8, 2016, surrounded by his children and grandchildren. He was a resident of Tulare County for over 58 years. Tom was born in Vlaardingen, Netherlands and immigrated to the United States when he was 24. After living in Delaware for a year, he relocated to Hanford, CA where he met his bride, Grace Duyst. Tom spent his life as a dairyman and in 1958 established the Tom Byl Dairy in Visalia, CA and later moved to Tulare. His involvement in the dairy industry included service on several boards and organizations, including the Dairy Heard Improvement Association, the Tulare County Dairy Princess Committee and the California Milk Advisory Board. He was a founding father and charter member of Visalia Christian Reformed Church.

Tom is survived by a brother, Nicholaas Bijl, sisters Lenie Sonneveld and Dika de Bloois, his wife Grace and son Tom, Jr. and wife Helen. He also leaves behind daughters Kathleen and husband John, Cheryl, Susanne and husband Ed as well as 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Visalia Christian Reformed Church on December 16, 2016 followed by internment at Tulare Public Cemetery.
