Alfreeda Evelyn Reichard, 84, died July 4, 2010.

She was born March 10, 1926, in Marionville, Pa., the youngest of 15 children. She moved to Anderson from Pennsylvania in 1950, and resided here for 60 years.

Alfreeda was retired and had been employed at the service desk at K-Mart for 25 years, and worked for 10 years at Grant’s Department Store.

She was a longtime member of New Horizons United Methodist Church, their Women’s Circle, and Grace Baptist Church and their Keenagers. She was an avid reader who loved reading poetry. She was very faithful in sending cards for anniversaries, birthdays and any special occasion. She enjoyed photography, especially creating photo albums, working jigsaw puzzles and playing bingo. She was a very giving person. She collected music boxes, butterflies and hand bells. She loved her family very much. She liked meeting and talking with people, and was very hospitable. Alfreeda will be missed very much by her family and friends.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to all the staff at Countryside Manor, especially Emily, Jackie, Karla and the two Kims.

Survivors include her daughters, Donna Van Sandt of Indianapolis, Joy (husband, Curly) Hunter of Terre Haute Becky (husband, Ron) Collins of Anderson, Nancy (husband, Patrick) Lanane of St. Louis, Mo., and Terri (husband, Michael) Leakey of Baytown, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Alfreeda was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Blanche Peters; her husband, Stanley Reichard, who died in 2006; a daughter, Penny Massey; and 14 brothers and sisters.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Guilkey Funeral Home, 504 W. Ninth St., Anderson, IN 46016, officiated by Pastor Karen Powell. Entombment will take place at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to New Horizons United Methodist Church, 611 E. 53rd St., Anderson, IN 46013.
