HUFFORD, John R. “Dick” age 80 of Vandalia, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at Crossroads Nursing & Rehab Center in Vandalia. He was born November 28, 1936 in Dayton, OH, son of the late John L. & Florence (Lotz) Hufford. Dick was a retired Purchasing Agent and was a U.S. veteran of the Air Force Reserves. Preceded in death by 1 sister, Shirley Hegeman and 1 brother, Robert Hufford, Dick is survived by his wife of 32 years, Linda (Martin) of Vandalia; 3 children, Sherri Medcalf (Paul) of Belper, England, Kevin Hufford of Murfreesboro, TN and John M. Hufford of Vandalia; 2 grandsons, Calvin Matthew and John Ernest Medcalf; 1 sister, Barbara Smith, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 pm, Saturday, December 17, at the Morton & Whetstone Funeral Home, 139 S. Dixie Dr., Vandalia with Rev. Michael Malcosky officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 2:00 pm until time of service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Dick’s memory.
