Mrs. Alice Mae "Jo" Hunt, age 75, of Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away at her home on Sunday, October 2, 2005. Born in Heber Springs on November 18, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Walter O. and Mary Jane (Jenkins) Wallace.

A lifetime resident of Heber Springs, Mrs. Hunt was active in the community. She was employed as a bookkeeper, and she served as mayor of the city of Heber Springs from 1987-1990. Mrs. Hunt served as a vice-president of Arkansas National Bank, now Heber Springs State Bank. She was a member of the Eastern Star and First United Methodist Church and a former member of the Chamber of Commerce and Medley Club. Mrs. Hunt especially enjoyed her granddaughter and her great-granddaughters. She also enjoyed reading and Razorback basketball. Her husband, Sumler Vern Hunt, preceded her in death on September 30, 1971. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Shearer.

Mrs. Hunt is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Dr. Jan Sharp of Heber Springs; one sister, Pat Bittle of Heber Springs; one granddaughter, Leigh Parsons, and her husband, J. D.; two great-granddaughters, Laura and Jessica Morgan, all of Heber Springs; and her niece, Carolyn Shearer of Aurora, Colorado. Mrs. Hunt is also survived by other relatives and her many friends.

Visitation will be held Monday, Oct. 3, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 4, at 11:00 a.m. in the Olmstead Chapel with Rev. John Miles officiating. Interment will follow in Heber Springs Cemetery. Roger Smith, David Smith, Jim Ramsey, Tatum Bittle, Bill Buchanan, and Herman Clark will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Heber Springs. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.
