Ancel Welborn Gibson, age 80, of Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away on Thursday, September 8, 2005, at the Veterans Memorial Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas. Born October 24, 1924, in Laurel, Mississippi, he was the son of the late Norman and Bertha ( Boutwell) Gibson. Mr. Gibson retired from the United States Navy, a World War II veteran having served on the USS Enterprise CV6 and USS Ranger. He was a Mason and had been a member of the Hesperia Masonic Lodge #411 in Chicago, Illinois, for forty-eight years. Mr. Gibson was also a Shriner. In addition to being a master chef, he enjoyed his hobbies of collecting clocks and doting on his children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Louise Arnold Gibson, on October 13, 2004 and also by one brother, Fred Gibson, and his parents. Mr. Gibson is survived by one daughter, Debora Gibson of Somerville, Tennessee; one stepson, Alvis Arnold of Heber Springs; two stepdaughters, Joyce Williams and Cathey Cox, both of Heber Springs one grandchild, one great-grandchild, four step grandchildren, four step great-grandchildren. Mr. Gibson is also survived by his many other friends and loved ones.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Sept. 10, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. Services will be held Sunday, September 11 at 2:00 p.m. in the Olmstead Chapel with Rev. Wayburn Cooper and Rev. Kenneth Rolland, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in South Cross Roads Cemetery with Masonic graveside services and military honors by the American Legion Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to South Cross Roads Cemetery Fund. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.
