Sherman - Barnum
"On Wednesday evening last the marriage of Roger, the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Sherman, to Miss Agnes Barnum, daughter of Mrs. M. E. Long, was solemnized at the residence of the groom's parents in Calaveras Valley. The whole house was beautiful with flowers, every room being decorated with smilax. evergreen, roses and chrysanthemums. At 9 o'clock the bridal party entered, with Miss Florence Haley and Harry Barker leading. Miss Jennie Haley, maid of honor, and Otis Sherman, the best man, following. The bride and groom next appeared, and after passing down the stairs to the porch they were met by Rev. Dr. Crump, who performed the beautiful marriage ceremony of the Episcopal chinch. Not a cloud obscured the sky, and a prettier scene could not be imagined. The spacious veranda had been tastefully decorated with evergreens, and the soft glow of Innumerable Chinese lanterns gave the surroundings a fairylike aspect. The bride, a pretty brunette, was attired in cream brocaded nun's veiling, garnatuied with cream lace and watered ribbon. Her bouquet was of white chrysanthemums and maidenhair fern. Miss Jennie Haley, the groom's cousin, was dressed in pink and white organdie, trimmed with lace and pink ribbon. Miss Florence Haley's gown was of white embroidered mulle, decked with old-rose ribbon. Among those present were Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Sherman, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Sherman, Mr. and Mrs. Carrlck, Mr. and Mrs. Rasmussen. Mr. and Mrs. Messersmith, Mr. and Mrs. John Carson, Mr. and Mrs. James Carson. Mr. and Mrs. Chapman.
