Merril W. Klug, Milton, WI, passed away peacefully on December 14, 2016 at home, surrounded by family. He was born on November 12, 1926, in Milton Township, WI, the son of Harold and Frieda Anna Elsie (Klug) Hall. At age 11, following his mother's death, he and 2 of his siblings (Gordon and Shirley) were adopted by his mother's brother, Paul Klug and his wife Ameilia. This is where Merril developed his love for farming. In 1947, Merril joined the US Airforce with his brother Gordon. They served in WS detachment of the 15 Weather Squadron spending most of their time in the Phlippine's sharing responsibilities for weather service for US air, ground, and service forces throughout the Pacific. After the service, Merril returned to Milton where he farmed for many years. He bought his farm in the early 60's and worked at General Motors for 35 years. He and and a GM co-worker also had a used car lot for several years, and with combined mechanical and body work experience enjoyed refurbishing cars for resale. Merril had fond memories of his time in the service with his brother and recounted many stories over the years. His favorite hobbies included hunting, baseball, and golf. He enjoyed a good book, was well read on local, national, world, and business news, and enjoyed politics and political debating.

Merril was preceded in death by his beloved Grandma, Bertha Janke Klug Lipke; birth parents, Harold and Frieda Hall (his mother died when Merril was 8); his adoptive parents (his mother's brother and wife), Paul and Amelia Klug; brother Gorden Klug; sisters, Nettiemae Terwilliger, and Shirley Marshall.
