Mary Jane Cook-Cavalancia of Buffalo Township died Sunday (June 29, 2003) at Allegheny Valley Hospital, Harrison.

Born in Freeport, she lived in the Valley all her life.

She was a registered nurse in the Recovery Room of Allegheny Valley Hospital and a district manager for the Visiting Nurses Association, Vandergrift, before retiring in 1992 after 18 years.

Mrs. Cook-Cavalancia was a member of Buffalo Presbyterian Church, Buffalo Township, where she was a member of the choir.

She enjoyed dancing, helping children and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband of 13 years, Stephen Cavalancia; a son, Roy A. Cook of Leechburg; a daughter, Mrs. Sandra (William) Rudert of Buffalo Township; two stepsons, James Cavalancia and Steven Cavalancia ; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles (Mary Ann) Gamble of Saxonburg; and two sisters, Mrs. Dolores (Roland) Maze of Buffalo Township and Betty Zitzman of Saxonburg.

She also is survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Roy H. Cook; her parents, Nelson and Beatrice Blewett Gamble; two brothers, Nelson and Dennis Gamble; and two sisters, Peggy Perine and Joan Carrier.

Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in DENNIS J. DAUGHERTY FUNERAL HOME, Freeport, where services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Her pastor, the Rev. David Hupp, will officiate.

Private burial will be in Brookland Cemetery, Allegheny Township.
