NAMPA — Funeral services for John Marvin "James" Hughes, 69, Portland, Ore., who died Monday at a Portland hospital following a brief illness, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Alsip Funeral Chapel.
Bishop H. Cecil Williams, bishop of the Nampa First Ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will officiate. Interment will be at the Wilder Cemetery.
Mr. Hughes was born Dec. 9, 1902 at Gurdon, Ark, and was reared in Arkansas. He came to Twin Falls, Idaho where he resided for a number of years and for the past 20 years he has made his home in the Portland, Ore. area. Mr. Hughes was a member of the L.D.S. Church.
He is survived by three sons, Otis Hughes, San Jose, Calif., Jack Hughes, San Jose, Calif., and Robert Hughes, Nampa; three daughters, Mrs. Lyle (Pauline) Bramhall, Meridian, Mrs. John (Evelyn) Messenger, Juneau, Alaska, and Mrs. A.J. (Zella) Woods, Texas; one brother, Porter Hughes, Boise; one sister, Mrs. Ethel Dudley, Nampa; and by 40 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
