Larry Joe Myers was born March 19, 1941 in Washburn, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his mother, Virgie Townsend and his mom, Opal Henry Mahurin, who raised him. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene and Lewis Henry.

He is survived by four brothers, Billy Ike Henry of Wasburn, MO, Harold Dean of Pampa, TX, Don Townsend of Bentonville, AR and Mike Townsend of Springdale, AR; four sisters, Pearl Henry of Washburn, MO, Cora Barnum of Pampa, TX, Janice Elsea of Neosho, MO and Diane Carter of Springdale, AR and several nieces and nephews.

Larry Joe received his education at Cormus Grove School and then Washburn, where he graduated from high school. He then went to Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield and received his teaching degree. Larry Joe taught school in Branson for two years then taught Spanish in Joplin, MO for twenty-eight years, retiring in 1992. He was a quiet and private person with a gentle nature and most of all he loved his family and friends. His favorite past time was fishing. He was very content living on the farm and being out doors enjoying the nature around him.
