R. C. Gill, Brother of Late Mayor, Dies
Ralph C. Gill, 62 years old, brother of the late Hiram Gill, former mayor of Seattle, died last night at Minor Hospital. Mr. Gill had resided in Seattle thirty-seven years, coming from his native state, Wisconsin, and lived at 115 29th Ave. For the last three years he was employed by the city auditor’s department as an accountant. He was the son of the late Col. Charles A. Gill, who was an aide to Gen. U. S. Grant and later was commissioner of patents under his administration. Ralph C. Gill also was a former attorney-general of Wisconsin.
Mr. Gill was a member of Ionic Lodge No. 90, F. & A. M.; Oriental Chapter, No. 19, R. A. M.; Seattle Council No. 6, R. & S. M.; Bethlehem Commandery, No. 19, K. T.; all Scottish Rite bodies and Nile Temple of the Shrine.
Surviving him are his widow, Mrs. Eva L. Gill; a daughter, Mrs. Vivian Pierce; wife of Frank Richardson Pierce; a son, Clark L. Gill, and three sisters, Mrs. Evelyn L. Ford, Mrs. Fred Guptill and Mrs. Frederick G. Simpson, all of Seattle. The Butterworth Mortuary is in charge.
