Mr. Carl Vernon Cannon, age 77, of Gist, Texas, passed away at his home on Friday,May 20, 2005. Born at Wolf Bayou, Arkansas, on August 13, 1927, he was the son of the late Isaac James and Bessie Ada (Flower) Cannon. Mr. Cannon had been a resident of Texas for most of his adult life and was an industrial painter. He was a veteran of the United States Army, and he was a member of the V.F.W. Post 3543 in Heber Springs and the American Legion. An avid hunter, Mr. Cannon was a coon hunter and raised hunting dogs. He is survived by his wife, Ruby Ann (Prince) Cannon of Gist, Texas; five sons, Robert Russell Gray of Orange, Texas, Todd Michael Cannon of Kerrville, Texas, James Cannon and Craig Cannon, both of Buna, Texas, Crandell Cannon of Heber Springs, Arkansas; two daughters, Pam Gray Seavers of Sherwood, Arkansas, and Margo House of Austin, Texas; one brother, Lester Cannon of Heber Springs, Arkansas; three sisters, Daphne Raney of Sacramento, California, Geraldine Houston of Springdale, Arkansas, and Betty Jo Burge of Guatemala; nineteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Mr. Cannon is also survived by other relatives and many friends.

Visitation for Mr. Cannon will begin Monday, May 23, 2005, at 12:00 noon at the Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 24, at 2:00 p.m. in the Olmstead Chapel. Interment will follow in the Friendship Cemetery.Pallbearers will be Jason Kieleszewski, Russell Gray, Joey Long, Elvia Liles, Claude McCarty, and Loy Wells. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.
