Radio Actress, daughter of Henry James Malmgron, a New Zealand born share broker's clerk of Danish-German descent and his wife Mary Rose nee Lawrie who came from South Australia. Nell studied classical dancing under Frances Scully and performed her own act at the Tivoli Theatre at the age of 16. Later as a soubrette and tap dancer joined Jim Gerald's company. In 1931 she danced in the Fuller's chorus line calling herself "Nell Stirling" she was engaged by Harold Parks known as George Edwards as his assistant in variety acts.
Nell had striking red curled hair, long shapely legs, "unstoppable ambition and a steel trap business brain."
1932 radio station 2UE offered Edwards (Parks) money to adapt "The Ghost Train" with 12 actors and bring show live to air Christmas Eve. But he hesitated so Nell grasped the chance engaging Maurice Francis who wrote the first of thousands of scripts for them. It's success led to the founding of the George Edwards Players, and Stirling went on to play almost every lead female role in the company's radio series for more than a decade.
29 March 1934 George and Nell married at St David's Presbyterian Church, Haberfield he was 47 and his 3rd wife. April 1941 first daughter was born. July 1948 divorced George.
