1932 radio station 2UE offered Edwards (Parks) money to adapt "The Ghost Train" with 12 actors and bring show live to air Christmas Eve. But he hesitated so Nell grasped the chance engaging Maurice Francis who wrote the first of thousands of scripts for them. It's success led to the founding of the George Edwards Players, and Stirling went on to play almost every lead female role in the company's radio series for more than a decade.

Remarried 9th November 1948 to Alexander George Atwill her accountant, at St Philip's Church of England Sydney. Having another daughter in this marriage.
