Dorothy M. Pyles, age 67, a Milwaukee resident, died on Monday, November 21, 2016 at her residence.
She was born on October 29, 1949 in Manitowoc, daughter of Donald F. Schermetzler and the late Jeanette (Meyer) Schermetzler. She was a graduate of Valders High School with the class of 1967 and then received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Special Education from U.W. Whitewater. Dorothy was a devoted public school teacher in Milwaukee, Green Bay and the Menomonee Indian Reservation. She was also a foster parent in the Green Bay area from 1990 to 1998.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law: Jennifer and Harrison (Charlie) Taylor, Milwaukee; two grandchildren: Annika and Harrison Jr.; her father: Donald Schermetzler, Manitowoc; two sisters and one brother-in-law: Barbara and John Gagnon, Eagle River, WI, Cathy Schermetzler, Manitowoc; seven brothers and three sisters-in-law: John and Michele Schermetzler, Cleveland, WI, David and Renae Schermetzler, Cleveland, WI, Joe and Brenda Schermetzler, Collins, WI, Thomas Schermetzler, Ken Schermetzler, Patrick Schermetzler and Bill Schermetzler, all of Manitowoc; and on lifelong friend: Mary Rajak, Wausau, WI. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by an infant son: John Pyles; and two brothers: Donald Jr. and Steven Schermetzler.
Cremation has occurred in Milwaukee and a Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at the Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be the Deacon Alan Boeldt with burial of her cremated remains to take place at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Clarks Mills.
