Charles R. Cantrell former Yukon, OK resident died on December 21, 2016 in Albuquerque, NM. Charles was born June 26, 1930 in Bunch, OK to Charlie and Ollie (Sumpter) Cantrell. He loved growing up with his 3 brothers and sister on the family farm in Stilwell, OK. The Great Depression caused hard times for the family, but since the family lived on a farm, they were always guaranteed something to eat. Charles served in the United States Army during the Korean and Vietnam wars. Charles was severely wounded in Korea during combat and received a purple heart and many other metals for his bravery. One of our father's greatest accomplishment was his 22 years of service to his country. After the Army, Charles held some interesting jobs. He worked as a prison guard where he was known as "Cool Cantrell", drove a Greyhound bus across country and flipped houses. In his spare time he enjoyed spending time with his family, taking road trips, meeting his friends for coffee at McDonalds and buying and selling cars. He loved to tinker with cars! Charles is preceded in death by Cleata Cantrell, his loving parents, his son, Dale Cantrell and 2 brothers, Kenneth Cantrell, Junior Cantrell and only sister, Ueldean (Dean) Hill. Charles is survived by his loving family; bother, D.F. Cantrell; mother of his children, Frances Dorsch; 3 children, Danny Cantrell, Gail Kirkley, and Tammy Lamm; his 4 grandchildren; Jenny Norris, Brooke Baum, Hunter Harris and Bayley Ballul; 2 great grandchildren; Brayden and Sydnie Jordan.
