Beecher (seemed to prefer over Abraham so I will use here) was the son of Charles Nathaniel "Nathan" Stout and Laura Jane Fridley, who married on 12 Jul 1857 in Shelby Co., Ohio. The couple had eight children together—George Ridley (19 Jun 1861), Lewis Franklin (12 Mar 1863), Minnie Arvesta (1867), Abraham Beecher (10 Jan 1869), Eliza Dell (2 Dec 1871), Charles Wilbur (16 May 1876), Edward John (23 Apr 1879), and an unknown child who was born and died before 1900. A granddaughter named Tina Pearl Stout, born in August of 1887, was also raised by Nathan and Laura Stout.

I found the family on the 1870 Census, living in Salem, Shelby Co., Ohio, the closest post office in Port Jefferson. Nathan Stout, aged 35, was a farmer. Laura, aged 32, was tending to the needs of their four young children—George, aged 9, Lewis, aged 7, Minnie, aged 4, and Abraham (i.e. Beecher), aged 1. There to help her out was 26-year-old domestic servant Catharine Bales.

The family was still in the same place when the 1880 Census taker knocked on their door. Nathan, aged 45, was busy farming. Laura, aged 43, was busy as home with their six children—George, aged 18, Lewis, aged 17, Beecher, aged 11, Della (aka Eliza Dell), aged 8, Charley, aged 4, and Eddie, aged 1. Living with the family was 19-year-old Jennie Bates, identified as a cook. Noticeably absent was daughter Minnie, who would have only been about 14 years old that census year. A family tree on Ancestry.com notes a death year of 1874 for her. Six years after that census, granddaughter Tina joined the family in August of 1886.

Fast forward to the 1900 Census. By that census, the family had relocated to Indiana and was living in Cass Township in Pulaski County. Nathan Stout, aged 64, was still actively farming. Laura, aged 63, reported that she had had eight children, but that only six of them had survived to that census. Only four of those six were still living at home with their parents—Lewis, aged 37, Beecher, aged 31, Dell, aged 28, and Charles, aged 27. Also there was Tina, aged 13, identified as a granddaughter. Living with the family were 20-year-old servant Eliza Woodroff, her daughter Hilda, aged 1, and hired hand, Elmer Harlison, aged 17.

Two years after that census, Beecher married Gertrude Anson on 26 Nov 1902 in Harlan, Nebraska. They had two sons together—Anson B. (28 Mar 1905) and Paul Bernard (29 Aug 1909).

I found the four of them together on the 1910 Census, living in Cambridge, Furnas Co., Nebraska. Beecher, aged 40, was working as a real estate agent. Gertrude, aged 26, reported that she had had two children, both of them still alive. There with their parents were Anson, aged 5, and Paul, aged 6 months.

On 7 Dec 1915, Beecher's father Nathan Stout died at age 80. Five years later, Beecher's mother Laura Stout died on 10 Mar 1920, aged 83.

By the 1920 Census, Beecher's family had relocated to Indiana and was living at 220 Dickson St. in Plymouth, Marshall County. Beecher, aged 49, was still dealing in real estate. Gertrude, aged 36, was keeping house. Still there with their parents were Anson, aged 16, and Paul, aged 14 (their ages mixed up on the record).

By the 1930 Census, Beecher and Gertrude had parted ways, and Beecher had moved in with his sister Dell Challman, also divorced by that census. Dell, aged 58 and noted as head of household, was working as a practical nurse in a bath house. She was the proprietor of Vapor Bath on W. LaPorte Street in Plymouth. Beecher, aged 60, was still dealing in real estate. There was also a roomer living in the home, 22-year-old Alvin Shei, an auto mechanic.

Beecher and Dell were still together in 1940. Beecher, aged 71, was working as a bath attendant for a mineral baths, and Dell, aged 68, was a bath cabinet salesman for same.

On 8 Feb 1958, Dell died at age 86. Six days later, Beecher died on 14 Feb 1958. Dell and Beecher share a headstone here in Oak Hill.
