Dessie Spears Butler Cockrum, age 86, of Pangburn, Arkansas, passed away at her home on Saturday, April 9, 2005. Born in Heber Springs, Arkansas, on July 9, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Elder L. R. and Hestie (Grissom) Spears. Mrs. Cockrum was a homemaker and a member of the Glad Tidings Missionary Baptist Church at Pangburn. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Domer Butler, and by her husband, A. Delbert Cockrum. Mrs. Cockrum was a member of the Extension Homemakers Club at Pangburn, active in Senior Citizens, and a member of the Pick Club. She is survived by two sons, Julius Butler and his wife, Kathy, and Larry Dean Butler and his close friend, Jean, all of Benton Harbor, Michigan; one daughter, Linda Butler Addison and her husband, Aaron, of Heber Springs; one brother, Truman Spears of Alabama; one sister, Jewel Spears Harral of Mt. Vernon; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Mrs. Cockrum is also survived by other relatives and her many friends.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 12, from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 13, at 10:00 A.M. in the Olmstead Chapel. Interment will be in the North Shore Memory Garden in Michigan.

Honorary pallbearers are Stephen Addison, James Addison, Aaron Addison, Dena Potter, Jaime Anderson, Keith Butler, Deborah Tubbs, and David Butler. Memorials may be made to Glad Tidings Missionary Baptist Church in Pangburn. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.
