He was born in Nelliston on August 19, 1931, son of the late Theodore A. Aspinwall, Sr. and Carmeta Muhlebeck Aspinwall.
Mr. Aspinwall graduated in June of 1949 from Springfield High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in August of 1949 and served ten months in the Korean War with Company A, 23rd Infantry Regiment. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with “V” insignia for Valor, Combat Infantry Badge and the Korean Service Medal with three Bronze Stars. Ted was honorably discharged from service in September of 1951, holding the rank of Sergeant First Class.
Mr. Aspinwall served as a Police Officer for the Village of Fort Plain for nine years. His last employment with the Grandoe Glove Corp. in Gloversville from 1976 until his retirement in 1996.
He is survived by his wife Audrey Mach Houghton Aspinwall; three children Vincent Aspinwall (Chris) of Ephratah, Joyce La Celle (Jim) of Ilion and Karen Garvin of Broadalbin; three step-children Kimberly Chirichio (Scott) of Johnstown, Brad Houghton (Mariela) of Winter Garden, Florida and Mark Houghton of Orlando, Florida; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and step-grandchildren.
As per Ted’s wishes, there will be no calling hours. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Private interment will be in Fern Dale Cemetery, Johnstown.
