Early Life: Sheldon was born May 21, 1926, to Leo Irwin Crittenden and Metta Robinson Crittenden. He grew up in Coalville, Utah, graduating from North Summit High School.
Life's Work | Service | Interests: He attended Utah State University. He also served in the United States Merchant Marines during World War II. Sheldon married his sweetheart, Judy Wilde, in the Salt Lake Temple on February 16, 1949. They were blessed with two daughters and four sons: Kenneth W. (Shauna), of Coalville, UT; David Gary (Renske), of South Weber, UT; Kathy Joan (Alan) Fawcett, of Henefer, UT; Brent Sheldon (Marilyn), of Gilbert, AZ; Robert Kent (Sue), of Kemmerer, WY; and Linda Diane (Todd) Giles, of Nibley. Sheldon has been blessed with 24 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren. He was an accomplished machinist, welder and handyman of all trades. He worked for Ideal Cement, Browning Arms, Marquardt, and Utah Power & Light. He loved and served his family. Working on the farm with his children brought him great joy. He loved fishing, hunting, camping, traveling and family gatherings. His diligence and persistence were two of his greatest attributes. Sheldon served in many church callings for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint, including a mission to San Bernardino, California, in 1995. Following his retirement in 1991, he and Judy built a home in Washington, Utah, where they spent their winter months. Sheldon Crittenden passed away December 15, 2011, from complications related to surgery in St. George, Utah. He was 85.
