She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church where she was active in Cenla Acts, Teen Acts and the Youth Group. She was a graduate of Pineville High School Class of 1988. She received her degree from Northwestern State University in Paralegal Studies. She worked as a paralegal for several years in Alexandria before moving to California where she worked in one of the largest law firms in San Francisco, Goodwin, MacBride, Squerl and Day, LLP for thirteen years.
