Kenneth Darwin Stroh, of Bowdon, passed away on March 02, 2017 at the age of 87, in Hazen, North Dakota, surrounded by family after a short battle with cancer. He had been staying in Hazen with his son and daughter-in-law Kent and Laura Stroh since October 4, 2016.

Kenneth was born on June 24, 1929 at Bowdon, ND, the son of Adam Albert and Martha (Suckut) Stroh. The family lived in Heaton where he and his brothers helped many farmers during the seeding and cutting season, as well as plowing them out in the winter and keeping up with the family farm. Kenneth attended Bowdon High School. He worked as a mechanic in the area and helped every one.

On June 24, 1953, Kenneth married Marlys Knudtson at the family farm in Heaton In 1956 Kenneth, Marlys and two of their children, Susan and Kent, moved to Anaconda, MT to seek work. Kenneth worked for a few years at the Anaconda Smelter, before beginning work in the Berkley Pit at Butte, MT as a Heavy Equipment Operator. Kenneth and Marlys raised six children, and also managed the Eagles Club in Anaconda.

Kenneth remained involved with mechanics, showing his sons and daughters how to work on their vehicles. He enjoyed camping, horse back riding in the wilderness and showing his children how to live off the land, teaching them how to hunt and fish. He enjoyed watching them in the rodeos and was very proud of all their accomplishments. In later years he loved his time with all his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, the family get togethers, family re-unions, surprise birthday parties, and the children and grandchildren just coming to visit and doing some fantastic cooking. Kenneth enjoyed life and just plain having fun. He’d say, “I Love all my kids”

In 1995, Kenneth and Marlys moved back to the family farm in Heaton to take care of his mother, an in 1997 they moved into Bowdon.

Kenneth worked for Gary Widicker for sixteen short years and enjoyed ever minute of it. He talked about all the good times at the Widicker farm. He said Gary was glad that he was a good worker because they belonged to the same church and he would have felt awkward if he had to fire him. Kenny was very proud to buy Kathy's dad's truck. He took very good care of that vehicle, and it stills runs perfectly today.

Kenny was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Bowdon.

He was preceded in death by his wife Marlys in 2015; his parents; and all of his siblings, Elaine Seibel, Myron, Richard, Robert, Deann, Dean and infant sister.

Kenny is survived by, his daughters, Susan DeVries (Duane Morlock), Dawn Kim Banta, Janeen Bonney (Mike Brenner); his sons: Kent (Laura) Stroh, Mike (Karen) Stroh, Hal (Roxi) Stroh; sister-in-law Linda Knudtson; 22 grandchildren; 47 great grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren, 4 great-great-great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
