She was born in Savannah, Tenn., and had lived in Bay County since 1969. Peggye retired from Civil Service at Tyndall AFB after 30 years service. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the AMVETS Post 2298 and the Red Hat Society. Peggye was Methodist by faith and enjoyed fishing and traveling, especially to Biloxi.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Debi Armstrong Whitcomb, and her siblings.
Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Joe Armstrong of Parker; her children, Edmund Joe Arm-strong II, and wife, Pam, of Panama City and Michael Duane Armstrong of Kingsland, Ga.; her grandchildren, Joleen Armstrong, Krissy Brown (Freddie), Erica Lambert (Jeff), Bradley Stevens, Cassie Armstrong, Brandy Whitcomb (Derek Waldron), Jessica Armstrong, Sommer Armstrong, Nick Armstrong and Edmund Joe Armstrong III; her great-grandchildren, Savannah Farris, Tyler Brown and Cooper Waldron; and numerous nieces and nephews, including Larry Rogers, whom she grew up with.
A funeral service will begin at 2 p.m. Monday, June 7, 2010, at the Kent-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Kirkland officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today, June 6, 2010, at the funeral home.
