Corporal Joshua Lee Jordan, of Mason, passed away on Saturday, November 19, at the age 31.

He is survived by his son Jacob Ryan Jordan, of Mason, his parents Robert Jordan and Vickey Jordan, of Mason, his wife Jennifer Jordan of Mason and a brother Jeffre Jordan and wife Danielle of Mason.

Joshua was born in Fredericksburg on October 12, 1985 to Robert and Vickey Jordan.

He graduated from Mason High School in 2004 and joined the Marine Corps in 2006. He entered the Marines at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego, California and graduated from "boot camp" on March 31, 2006. He was in Platoon 2065 which earned the designation of "Honor Platoon" during their training. Joshua excelled early by receiving promotion to Private First Class. This was earned by honoring the "Leave No Man Behind" creed of the Marines. He carried one of his Echo Company brothers on his back after he was injured. Only 6 of the 500 in his training class earned this honor.

After completing basic training, Joshua became part of the USMC Military Police. Training for the military police was at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. After completing his training, Joshua was stationed at Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii and then at Yuma, Arizona. During his time in the Marines, Joshua earned 5 Rifle Expert, 1 Pistol Sharp Shooter, 1 Rifle Marksman, and 1 Pistol Marksman medals. Joshua served in the Marines from 2006 to 2011 when he was honorably discharged.

After his time in the Marine Corps, Joshua returned to Mason and worked in the Voca Sand Plant. He entered the Brady Goat Cook-off and on his first try won 7th place.

Joshua was so sweet and loving and was always willing to help anyone in any way that he could. He was a wonderful father to his son Jacob Ryan. He loved hunting, fishing and pretty much anything outdoors. He could fix or build anything as well. We love and miss you Josh.

Visitation with the family will be Monday, November 28, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Mason Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 29, at 10:00 a.m. at River of Life Church in Mason. Interment with military honors will follow in the Gooch Cemetery.
