YATES CITY ~ DuWayne L. Mathews, 93, of Yates City, passed away at 7:22p.m., on Thursday, December 29, 2016, at Farmington Country Manor.

He was born November 18, 1923, in rural Yates City, to Raymond D. and Leita L. (Lentz) Mathews.

He married Aileen Kirtley on May 2, 1948, at the United Methodist Church in Knoxville, IL. She survives.
Also surviving are two children, Carol Eaves of Tampa, FL, and Larry Mathews of Stevenson, MI.

DuWayne served in the Navy from January 1945 to July 1946.
He was a member of the Faith United Presbyterian Church and the local American Legion.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 2, 2017, at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Elmwood with a one hour visitation before the service from 10:00a.m.-11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Yates City cemetery.

Memorials may be made to B.Y.E., Elba-Salem Fire Department, and the Faith United Presbyterian Church in Yates City.
