B. H. "Ben" Melton, 76, a retired Ozark farmer, was pronounced dead on arrival early Saturday early Saturday at St, John's Hospital in Springfield. He had been ill only a short time. Mr. Melton, a blacksmith for several years in the Stone County community of Hootentown, was a member of the Selmore Christian Church. Survivors are his wife, Gertrude of the home; three sons, Ward, Springfield, Howard, Ozark and Leroy, Ontario, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Koch, Route 1, Nixa and Mrs. Anna Kissee, Route 1, Ozark; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday in Harris Chapel at Ozark with the Rev. Harold Mayes officiating. Burial was in Selmore Cemetery.
