On 8 Jul 1861, Green Barbee enlisted in the Army of the CSA in Wilkinson County, Georgia. He was assigned to Company B, 14th Regiment Georgia Infantry as a Private. They were called the "Ramah Guards". Pvt Green W Barbee was killed just three months after joining the Army on 12 Oct 1861 in a battle near Cheat Mountain in Northern Virginia (per the Wilkinson County Civil War Death Records). At the time, it was Cheat Mountain or Cheat Summit Fort, located in Pocahontas and Randolph Counties in Virginia. Since that time, the location is now part of West Virginia. Pvt Barbee is buried along with 46 other Confederate soldiers at Rockbridge Alum Springs, Virginia.
