Mary Scewilla King Adair “Maw/Auntie” was born February 27, 1920 in Port Arthur, Texas and was a long-time resident of Groves, Texas. She was called to be with the Lord on December 30, 2016. She passed peacefully at her home in Paradise, Texas surrounded by her loved ones.

She was a loving mother, grandmother and aunt. She was also a faithful servant of God. She and her husband Duffy (who served many years as a Drainage District Commissioner for Jefferson County) held many prayer meetings in their home and helped start Church On The Rock in Mid-County. She spent many years faithfully praying for the military, her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, M. J. “Duffy” Adair; her mother, Mary Hill King; her father, William Jennings King; her brothers, William Jennings King, Jr., Cecil King, Tommy King; her sister, Leona Mae LeTulle and her grandson Dion Frederick.

She is survived by her son, Danny Adair and wife Melissa; daughter, Jeanne Adair Tatum, and her son Sam Adair and wife Janis.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Dana, Stephen, Dustin, Katie, Jonathan, Danny, Raygan, Brad, Bill; foster grandchildren, Sheldon and Cedrick; her brother, Jack R King and wife Doris and many beloved nieces and nephews. In addition, she is survived by long-time caregiver, honorary daughter and friend, Mercedes Reyes.

Visitation will be Monday, January 2, 2017 at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home from 5pm-8pm. The funeral will be on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home at 11am. She will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.
