Age 86 of Montrose, formerly of Mt. Morris, died Thursday, July 16, 2015, at her home surrounded by her family. Funeral will take place 1:00 pm, Monday, July 20, 2015, at Martin Funeral, Cremation, & Tribute Services in Genesee Township. Dwayne Whitehead will officiate with burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park. Family will receive friends on Monday, from 9:00 am until time of service at 1:00 pm.
Joyce was born August 20, 1928, in Bernie, Missouri, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otto and Iva Mae (Long) Whitehead. Growing up in Bernie, Joyce was educated locally. She grew up on a farm and learned to pick cotton with her brothers and sisters at an early age.

She met her husband Bob at a Movie theater when she was just 13 years old. She and Bob Allison were united in marriage on January 8, 1944, in Bernie, Missouri, she was 15 and Bob 18. Bob enlisted in the Navy while Joyce stayed home with her mother and mother in law, he came home after the war was over. Sadly he preceded her in death on July 4, 2005. She worked for the Flint Board of Education, retiring in 1979. Joyce was active at North End Baptist Church, where she has been a member since 1956. Joyce enjoyed fishing, quilting, and playing games, like Canasta and Dominos with family and friends. They visited Florida every winter, traveled to Oscoda on fishing trips, and often traveled to Bernie, Missouri. She was a loving, giving, and best of all wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Left to cherish her memory are two children, Bobby D. and wife, Ann Allison and Dione Kay Howard; sons-in-law, Terry Oliver and Stan Centilli; seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, one great great-grandchild; and brother, Dwayne Whitehead. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and daughters, Betty Joyce Oliver, and Donna Fay Centilli: son-in-law, Benny Eual Howard; two grandsons, Benny Lee Howard, and Rusty Lee Howard.
