He was the son of Edward and Matilda (Ehlbeck) Boers.
Robert was a graduate of Lostant High School. He married Betty J. Webster on March 18, 1945 at County Line Lutheran Church in Peru. She passed away on December 21, 1951. He married Dorothy M. Meyer on September 5, 1954 at Clarion Lutheran Church in LaMoille. She passed away on July 24, 2015.
He was a grain and livestock farmer and continued to grain farm into his eighties. His faith and church were the center of his life. He was a member of Immanuel (County Line) Lutheran Church in Peru where he was active in the choir and later he was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Peru.
Robert was an avid, lifelong Chicago Cubs fan. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, taking daily walks and he traveled extensively throughout the United States. For years, he was a member of and hosted a card club with his wife and their many friends. He also enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening and would donate much of his vegetable harvest to local food pantries.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wives and two brothers, Leslie and Edward Boers.
Burial: Peru City Cemetery.
