Roger Wayne Wingerter, 73 passed away February 29th surrounded by family at his home in Mesa, Arizona. He was born on June 24, 1942 in Bismarck, North Dakota to Peter and Ruth (Schmeichel) Wingerter. He graduated from Selfridge High School in 1960, attended both Casper Community College and Brown Institute in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was a partner in Wingerter Custom Combining and farmed in the Selfridge area.

In 1963 he met the love of his life Cheryl Johnson, whom he married in 1964. They adopted their wonderful son Patrick Peter in December of 1966. The family moved to Washington State to pursue his love of carpentry. In July of 1969, they adopted their sunshine, Paula Patrice. They spent the next 30 years living in Ridgefield, Washington where Roger renewed his faith and became an active member of Saint John’s Catholic Church. He enjoyed being a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Anytime he could use his many skills in organizing, cooking, grilling or carpentry, he always enjoyed helping others. In 2009, Roger and Cheryl began snowbirding in Arizona and have loved spending time reconnecting with friends and making new ones.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents; Quenton and Philomena Wingerter, his maternal grandparents; Fred and Emily Schmeichel, his parents; Pete and Ruth Wingerter, twin sisters; Mary Ann and Julie Ann, his nephew, Brent, his niece, Wendy and his grandson Chris.

His is survived by his wife of 53 years, Cheryl. He will be deeply missed by his son Pat and daughter-in-law Shareece, along with their daughters Teyla Rose and Myka Quinn. His memory will be cherished by his daughter Paula and her fiance John, as well as his two granddaughters and two great-grandchildren.

His Celebration of Life and Prayer Service will be held on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 pm at Legacy Funeral Home, Chandler, AZ.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 3,2016 from 10:00-11:00 am at St. Timothy Catholic Church, Mesa, AZ.
