Edith V. Davidson Buford, 88, of Ranson, died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017, at Blue Ridge Hospice, Winchester, Virginia.

Born Nov. 17, 1928, in Millville, she was the daughter of James Manuel and Stella (LaRue) Manuel.

Mrs. Buford retired after 20 years with Elite Cleaners.

She was a member of Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church.

Edith is survived by her husband of 40 years, Gerald R. Buford, at home; son, David Todd Davidson, of Ranson; daughters, Tammy Painter and husband, Robert, of Harpers Ferry and Kimberly Schreckengost and husband, Cory, of Winchester; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Margaret Breeden and husband, Richard, of Charles Town; and two brothers, James Manuel and wife, Jackie, of Maryland and Calvin Manuel and wife, Ruth, of Harpers Ferry.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sister, Edna Mae Manuel; and brother, Morris Manuel.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 6, 2017, at Chestnut Hill United Methodist Church, Harpers Ferry, with Pastor Dennis Crolley officiating. Interment will be at Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Martinsburg.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town.
