Thomas R. Chambers, Sr., age 86, Logansport, passed away at 12:56 p.m. on Sunday, February 1, 2015, in Memorial Hospital.

Born November 4, 1928, in Cass County, he was the son of Dennis and Dorothy Tony Chambers.

Tom was married on November 17, 1950, in Logansport, to Geneva “Jenny” Grace, who survives, in Logansport.

He had been employed 32 years at Logansport Municipal Utilities, leaving as Water Superintendent. He was then employed as unit manager for the State Highway Department, retiring in 1991, after 14 years.

Tom was a 1947 graduate of Logansport High School. He served in the United States Army in the 816th field artillery battalion. He was a member of the American Legion Post 418 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3790.

He attended Main Street United Methodist Church.

Tom enjoyed playing bingo, working on the farm, and tinkering with John Deere tractors. He was dedicated to his family, and held a special place in his heart for his dog, Boomer.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are children, Thomas R. (Joni) Chambers, Jr., Terry (Charlene) Chambers, Tim (Julee) Chambers, and Tammy (Chuck) Campbell, all of Logansport; siblings, Della Quinn, South Bend, Ves (Lindus) Chambers, Fowler, Eddie (Diane) Chambers, Fort Wayne, and Jack (Doris) Chambers, Logansport, and sister-in-law, Marilyn Thomas, Logansport.

Also surviving are grandchildren, Tyler Chambers (Jennifer Ladalski), Clare (Matt) Bragg, Brandon Chambers, Brent (Allison) Chambers, Chad Campbell (Amber Fleming) and Kylene (Billy) Sickafus; great grandchildren, Abigail Chambers, Audry Chambers, Cammie Campbell, Bryant Landis, Austin Mowery, Malloreigh Clippard, Owen Clippard, Brayden Sickafus and Sydney Sickafus; several nieces and nephews, and cousins.

A sister, Margaret Kreighbaum and brother-in-law, Robert Quinn preceded him in death.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 6, 2015, at Kroeger Funeral Home, Pastor Damon Soper officiating.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, also at the funeral home.

Full interment with military honors will be at a later date.
